How to edit a game
Would you like to liven up your old boring game? Then why not change it to your settings!
Steps
Edit Photos
- Change a picture in the game but you don't know how, first you have to go to the game's directory. Usually, that would be in "C:\Program Files\". Sometimes, in older games, it could be "C:\"
- Look for folders with the names "DATA", "data", "DATA > IMAGES" or "data > images", and so forth.
Saves
- Transfer saved games. now we'll say you installed the same game on another computer, but you want to play from were you left off. What you do is, go to the game's directory (step 1 and 2 in Edit Photos)
- Look for files with the extension of ".sav" or ".profile"
- Copy them to a flash drive and paste them in the same directory on the other computer.
Editing The Game's System
- Go to the games directory (by now, you MUST know how to do this)
- Look for ".DLL", ".DAT", ".INI", and ".CNF". Once you find one, right click it and select "Open With...". From the list, select "Notepad"
- If the file is encrypted, there will be a whole bunch of meaningless symbols on the screen that you have now hope of figuring out. However, if it's not encrypted, you might be able to figure out what to change. I can't give you any more instructions from here because the file's code varies all from game to game.
Warnings
- Some things in here could ruin a perfectly good game.
